Looking to pair multiple timbers can be difficult, as colour and grain patterns are often very different. These projects instead chose to incorporate cork creating a wonderful contrast while maintaining elements of nature in the home.
In this home the Architect chose to pair our Cork flooring tiles with Blackbutt lining, and we can’t say enough about the outcome!
The spotted texture and grain of cork flooring pairs perfectly with the white kitchen benchtops, while offering contrast from the Blackbutt lining used above.
Cork is also highly durable and soft on the feet, which made it the perfect choice for this large living space.
Another reason why this cork flooring is such an amazing material is that it’s 100% sustainable. As only the bark of the cork trees is harvested, this allows the tree to continue to remove C02 from the environment.
The timber lining and window sills create the perfect transition between inside and out. Blackbutt was chosen for its high durability in addition to its earthy colour tones and natural grain pattern.
One of the benefits in using Blackbutt is its fire resistance and is one of seven woods recommended in fire prone areas.
We love the way cork looks alongside timber so much, we used it in the Market Timbers showroom. This is a look at our Solid European Oak bench with Cork Malta Chestnut Dekwall as a backing.
The cork creates the perfect feature wall for any room while the solid oak bench also offers some additional storage to the space.
